The Customer
WeGas had recently established its new depot in Chartwell. While the facility offered significant operational potential, the condition of the property required extensive remedial work before it could reflect the professionalism and quality associated with the WeGas brand.
The Challenge
Upon assessment, the Prodec team identified several issues affecting both the appearance and long-term integrity of the site. The walls showed signs of damaged plaster, algae growth and moisture-related deterioration, while the steelwork had suffered severe rusting. These issues not only impacted the overall aesthetic of the depot but also posed a risk to the longevity of the surfaces if left untreated.
The project required a comprehensive specification that addressed each problem individually while delivering a cohesive, durable finish across multiple substrates.
The Solution
Following a detailed site assessment, Prodec developed a tailored specification designed to restore and protect the facility.
The remediation process included:
- Prodec Solvent-Based Plaster Primer to seal and stabilise prepared wall surfaces.
- Prodec Bonding Liquid to strengthen friable and previously weathered areas.
- Prodec Barrier Coat to address waterproofing requirements and provide additional protection against moisture ingress.
- Prodec Rust Converter to neutralise and stabilise corroded steel surfaces.
- Prodec Waterbased Metal Primer to create a sound foundation for the steelwork coating system.
- Prodec GP Undercoat White to prepare surfaces for final finishing coats.
- Prodec Premium Sheen Acrylic for the white wall areas, delivering a durable and attractive finish.
- Prodec All Seasons Roof Coat for the grey wall sections, providing excellent weather resistance and long-term protection.
- Prodec Acryglo Water-based Enamel for the depot’s signature orange gate, creating a durable and visually striking finish.
Throughout the project, Prodec representatives conducted multiple site visits to monitor progress, provide technical guidance and ensure the specification was being correctly implemented.
The Benefits
By following a carefully developed specification and receiving ongoing technical support, the WeGas team was able to:
- Address existing moisture, algae and rust-related issues.
- Improve the long-term durability of both masonry and steel surfaces.
- Protect the facility against future environmental exposure.
- Achieve a consistent, professional appearance across the entire depot.
- Benefit from ongoing technical oversight throughout the refurbishment process.
The Result
What began as a facility showing significant signs of deterioration was transformed into a clean, professional and well-protected depot that reflects the quality of the WeGas brand.
By combining the right products with the right specification and ongoing technical support, Prodec helped turn a challenging refurbishment project into a successful long-term asset improvement.
