Background:
MSC Alona Bay Head, a key operational facility, was facing critical floor degradation issues that posed safety and maintenance concerns. NCI Projects approached Prodec Paints to evaluate the flooring conditions and provide expert recommendations on the best approach to restoration.
Challenge Faced by the Client:
During the site assessment, Prodec discovered that the facility’s flooring was in a severely deteriorated state. Years of heavy use and exposure to oils and industrial substances had left the floors structurally compromised and cosmetically unsound. The challenge was not only to restore the floor’s integrity but also to ensure the new coating system could withstand future operational demands.
Prodec Paints – The Preferred Supplier:
Prodec Paints was invited to participate in a product comparison trial alongside leading competitors. Each supplier was allocated a 4-square-metre test area to demonstrate the performance of their flooring solutions under identical conditions.
Thanks to Prodec’s meticulous surface preparation and the superior quality of its products, the MSC team awarded Prodec Paints the full project contract for paint supply. This decision marked the beginning of a trusted partnership.
Prodec Paints Innovative Solutions:
- Surface Cleaning: The first step involved removing years of oil and grease contamination using Prodec Aqua Clenz, a powerful cleaning agent that proved highly effective in restoring a clean substrate.
- Substrate Repair: All plaster defects were addressed using Prostruct LS1000, a high-performance structural repair compound, mixed with Prodec Mortar Modifier. This combination ensured a stable and sound substrate ready for coating.
- Coating Application: Once surface preparation was approved, Prodec applied Prodec Epoxy Special Mix, a durable and chemical-resistant floor coating tailored for industrial environments. A Prodec representative was on site throughout to oversee preparation and application, ensuring full compliance with Prodec Specification standards.
The Outcome:
The quality of Prodec’s products, combined with hands-on involvement throughout the project, resulted in a flawless floor restoration that exceeded expectations. MSC was
impressed by the transformation and durability of the finished product. As a result, Prodec Paints has since been appointed the preferred paint supplier for MSC, with additional projects already underway.
